Is Travel Insurance A Necessity or Not?

Posted: under Uncategorized.

You are planning on booking a vacation and you are not sure if you need travel insurance. You have heard the warnings and you know that many travel agents suggest travel insurance as a necessity for any vacation. Since you are planning on spending a lot of money between air fares, hotel reservations, and other arrangements, you feel like it might be a good idea to insure your trip – but is it really necessary?

There are a number of unexpected circumstances that could arise prior to your trip that would make travel insurance vital to you getting your money back. Travel insurance was created to act as a saving grace to people whose trips become cancelled due to these circumstances. Whether the airline unexpectedly goes out of business a week before your trip or you become ill and are unable to travel, travel insurance ensures that your money will be refunded if the travel plans are not carried out as planned. There are a number of areas where travel insurance can help you out while on vacation.

If you are traveling abroad you might want to look into your regular insurance plan to make sure it would cover you in a foreign country. Some insurance plans will not cover medical expenses in other countries or are not accepted in other countries. If this is true of your insurance then any medical expenses or emergencies that may arise while you are away will not be covered. By purchasing travel insurance, you are guaranteed to be covered in any medical situation that may arise.

Since September 11th, break outs of terrorism have plagued not only the United States, but the globe. If a terrorist act suddenly breaks out in an area that you have booked a flight to, the airline is not required to provide you with a refund if you choose not to travel to the area because of terrorism – that is, unless you have travel insurance. Given the unpredictability of these events in today’s world, you never know where or when a troubling situation may arise.

Flights can be cancelled at any time for a number of reasons, closing of the airline, inclement weather conditions, and a number of other factors that can not be controlled. In some circumstances flights are not rescheduled and refunds are not given, which means you not only lose your flight but also the amount of money you spent to purchase the ticket. Travel insurance insures your ticket so that no matter what the reason is, for the flight not taking off, you receive your money back.

Have you ever lost your luggage? In many cases airlines find and return the missing baggage but in some cases the luggage is never found. In some other cases, it is discovered that items have been taken from luggage. In this case, travel insurance acts to insure whatever items are lost or stolen so you are able to replace your belongings. Perhaps one of the most appealing aspects of travel insurance is that it protects you from any unforeseen circumstances in your life that may prohibit you from flying. If, for any reason from sickness to a death in the family, you are unable to travel as scheduled, your money will be refunded.

If you do decide to purchase a travel insurance plan, it is important that you research a number of travel insurance companies and plans before deciding on one. Travel insurance is not only a good idea for people traveling by plane, but also on cruise lines. Be sure that the company and plan you choose is the one that best suits you and the travel plans you have made. If you travel frequently, you may want to consider a long term travel insurance policy. Year long insurance policies are available from a number of travel insurance. This provides frequent travelers with constant coverage, rather than having to purchase travel insurance every time they travel. Make sure to cover all the bases and ask plenty of questions when purchasing your travel insurance. Make sure you know that your policy will cover all unforeseen circumstances and you do not end up with a plan that only covers some situations.

What You Can Expect From The Disney World's Magic Kingdom

Posted: under Uncategorized.

The Magic Kingdom was the first of Orlando’s Disney parks, constructed in 1971. Here you’ll find Alice in Wonderland, Snow White and the seven dwarves, Peter Pan, Mr. Toad and his wild ride, Dumbo, the Little Mermaid, Winnie the Pooh, Mickey, Goofy and Pinnochio!

Parents feel transported back to their childhood, while children experience the magic of Disney. Unlike other amusement parks, at Disney World Orlando every single detail, be it a sign, a plant arrangement, a costumed cast member or music, has been agonized over to transform the illusion into a very real world.

Once guests pass through the Main Street “opening credits,” as the Disneyworld imagineers call them, Tomorrowland appears to the right. This part of the Magic Kingdom was designed to look like the future, as 1920s science fiction writers imagined it. Space Mountain, a fast-moving indoor rollercoaster, is by far the most popular attraction at Disney, as a whole.

Kids will love Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin that puts you right in the middle of an arcade game. Parents will marvel at one of the oldest Disney rides, the Carousel of Progress. Kids will also enjoy the neighboring Mickey’s Toon Town fair, where they can climb through cartoon replica houses and ride Goofy’s barnstormer mini-rollercoaster.

Following the Magic Kingdom around, guests will enter Fantasyland. Your Disney vacation wouldn’t be complete without a stop at Cinderella’s castle! Inside her castle there are the family coat of arms and mosaic murals. The second floor houses Cinderella’s Royal Table restaurant but you’ll need a reservation to get a seat.

The Cinderella Suite is also on one of the upper floors of the 180 feet tall castle and is one of the most coveted prizes Disney has to offer. However, for the other guests, Fantasyland has many low-impact rides, suitable for young children. “It’s a Small World” is a popular ride here, as is the Mad Tea Party and Cinderella’s Golden Carousel. The Pinnochio Haus is a great place to grab double cheeseburgers and “Figaro” fries on the cheap!

The next Magic Kingdom land you’ll find yourself in is Liberty Square, home to the Hall of Presidents, the Liberty Square Riverboat and the extremely popular, and spooky, Haunted Mansion. The exterior of the Haunted Mansion was completed in 1963, but the imagineers couldn’t decide what to do with the interior until 1971, when it finally opened!

Inside this Gothic 18th Century Hudson River Valley manor, you’ll find 999 spectacular ghosts! The mansion is more “cool” than seriously terrifying, but you may not want to bring very young children all the same.

In Frontierland, you’ll find Splash Mountain, one of the best rides Disney has to offer! This is not your typical log flume ride. Once inside, you’ll move through the story of Brer Rabbit and Brer Bear with over 100 animatronics and you’ll experience a series of unexpected twists before taking the final 52 foot plunge into the thorny briar patch below. In this part of the Magic Kingdom, you may want to grab a turkey leg, stop in to the shooting gallery or watch the Country Bear Jamboree, where animatronic bears sing their country hearts out!

You’ll cross a wooden plank bridge and find yourself suddenly in Adventureland, a fun and diverse section of Magic Kingdom. Here you’ll find the Pirates of the Caribbean ride with incredible detail built into each animatronic pirate – including facial expressions, hairy legs and all.

Sing along, narrowly miss flying bullets, pass through jails and experience the marketplace with Captain Jack Sparrow and Captain Barbossa. On the Jungle Cruise, you’ll tour four continents and see Cambodian tigers, headhunters, hippos, elephants, ancient temples and giant butterflies from your swampboat.

Disney resorts like the Contemporary and the Polynesian are located right next to the Magic Kingdom theme park. You can arrive at any theme park via the Contemporary resort’s monorail, which runs right through the building, making it the most convenient accommodation. However, the Polynesian has a really excellent “Spirit of Aloha” Dinner Show. These accommodations are some of the pricier resorts, averaging around $329/night.

The Magic Kingdom is home to several special events. First of all, the Disney Dream Come True parade passes by three times daily. There’s also a nightly Spectromagic parade, which never ceases to amaze with its fiber optics, neon lights and holograms. As it gets darker, you won’t want to miss the Wishes Spectacular fireworks display above Cinderella’s castle – set to music and narrated by Jiminy Cricket and the Blue Fairy. Whether young or old, it’s moments like this you will always treasure.

Travel Informations About Orlando Vacations

Posted: under Uncategorized.

Orlando vacations are notoriously hectic especially with all the attractions the kids want to visit, but there is so much more to enjoy in this busy city. There are enough shops, markets, museums, art galleries and much more in Orlando to keep even the most ‘difficult to please’ person occupied. Whilst a vacation here has been popular for many years now, the reason to visit continues to grow as the number of facilities and attractions increases.

If you enjoy shopping then you will love Orlando; it has plenty of malls and stores like Outdoor World which is so large it contains a 17,000 gallon aquarium and you could spend all day there. This article highlights some of the other visitor attractions that you could see on an Orlando vacation which are not as well publicized as the theme parks but are equal in their ability to please.

Central Florida Zoological Park is one of the major reasons to visit as the zoo is home to more than 400 animals that started out as just a collection in the Sanford Fire Department. The zoo has a charity status and is dedicated to the preservation of all exotic animals, including those that are only found in Florida.

For anyone that appreciates the work of Louis Comfort Tiffany then a large collection of his works is exhibited the Museum of American Art, where it has been housed since the early 1940′s. The collection is the most comprehensive anywhere with Tiffany jewelry, art glass, ornaments, pottery, paintings and leaded glass.

Whilst Orlando may appear on the surface to be a town designed for the entertainment of children that could not be farther from the truth with adults equally well looked after. For the young at heart, Orlando vacations aim to please with extensive evening venues including music and dance at Disney’s incredible Pleasure Island and Universals version, City walk, to name just a couple of places.

Another popular attraction is the Orlando Science Center and is in fact one of the largest buildings of its type allowing the visitor access to ten huge exhibition halls. An alternative to this would be the International Trolley and Train Museum which can be found along International Drive and has one of the country’s largest operating indoor G gauge layouts in a space of over four thousand square feet.

On International Drive there is the Mercado Center which is the home to the wonderfully moving, sad and at times eerie Titanic exhibition which actually displays a number of original items from the great ship. For those who prefer a little peace and relaxation they can visit the beautiful lake Eola Park where there are forty three acres of land to roam freely; it includes a boating lake.

No trip to Orlando would be complete without a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort which comprises of four main theme parks plus water parks; or Universal Studios resort complex which is equally as popular. An Orlando vacation has enough tourist attractions to last a year so the next time you visit, why not try one or two of the others; they may be less well known but can be just as impressive.

Vacation Rental Homes: Stay And Play In Style On Your Next Theme Park Vacation

Posted: under Uncategorized.

Vacation rental homes have become an incredibly popular alternative to the traditional hotel room when it comes to theme park vacations. Lodging is usually one of the biggest chunks of a vacation budget and most savvy travelers want to make certain that every dollar is spent wisely. Not only are vacation homes clean and conveniently located next to many major attractions, but they are also very affordable.

Most vacation rental homes offer considerably more living space than you will find in the typical hotel room and are a great value for the budget-conscious. These homes are perfect for large families that need a little more room to spread out or perhaps two families who are traveling together and want to stay under one roof. Most rental homes offer several bedrooms and can sleep up to 12 people, which often makes the cost per person far less than that of a hotel.

Renting a vacation home is not like making a hotel reservation and typically requires signing an agreement and making a security deposit with the vacation property owner. The deposit is usually returned a few days after check-out, assuming that nothing in the home was damaged or taken. This agreement is legally binding and provides more detail than the standard form you might find at a hotel. Make certain that you read and understand the terms of your agreement and are fully aware of all fees and deposits that due before signing the rental agreement so you can avoid any surprises later on.

Vacation rental homes are my number one choice in accommodations when taking a theme park vacation. We buy groceries and save additional money by eating meals at our rental home and by preparing and taking snacks to the park. We all have our own bedrooms and can go to bed at our regular and often different bedtimes. I enjoy that “home away from home” freedom that comes with my rental fee and because I shop around, that rental fee is always less than that of a typical hotel stay. And, yes, I can say “always” because I do a lot of research before I ever spend a dime on a rental deposit.

Although there are several online rental home agencies available, my first step in rental home research always begins with EBAY. There are hundreds of rental properties listed on EBAY and I am never disappointed in the amount of results I find. Keep in mind that this option is best suited for theme park vacations to the larger parks, like Walt Disney World, Disneyland and Busch Gardens Europe, since a lot investors purchase rental properties near major tourist attractions.

Of course, your budget is the first thing to consider when narrowing down your search results. Planning ahead and booking your vacation rental home several weeks or even months ahead of time can save you money as well as give you peace of mind. But if you’re making last-minute travel plans, don’t worry that you may have missed out on early bird savings because you can often take advantage of great deals on last-minute cancellations.

Vacation rental home booking agencies always have customers that, for whatever reason, have to forfeit their deposit and cancel their reservation at the eleventh hour. They obviously don’t want to have an empty rental home for a week so they often offer it up for a discounted price so that it will be rented quickly. They win and you definitely win and come away with a great deal on a rental home that fits your style and budget.

Regardless of your budget, make sure that the home you choose is clean before you arrive, is adequately furnished and features everything that you would use at your own home. Remember that reputable rental companies go above and beyond to provide you not only with great details about themselves but also with pictures and details about the homes that they offer. Here are just the very basics of what the home should supply:

1. A fully equipped kitchen with dishes, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator and cooking appliances.
2. A washer and dryer.
3. Central heat and air conditioning and all other utilities.
4. Local phone service with emergency numbers by each phone.
5. Cable TV, DVD/VCR player and some even offer free high-speed internet.
6. An ample supply and assortment of towels and bed linens.
7. Safety and security features like locks on all doors, pool alarm, fire extinguishers, etc.
8. Off-street parking.
9. Directions and phone numbers of area groceries and supercenters, entertainment venues and medical facilities

Cleaning fees are usually included in your rental fee if your stay is at least 5 days. This makes the departure easier because you don’t have to clean around the clutter or fear you’re putting things back in the wrong spot. Rental companies can also supply cribs, high chairs and play pens upon request and some are even pet-friendly. Additional deposits may be required for some of these items so be sure and ask first.

Vacation rental homes can provide a welcome and home-like retreat for those of us who spend most of our days enjoying the hustle and bustle of our favorite theme park. From modest to extravagant, selecting a vacation rental that fits your personal style, accommodation needs and budget can be the beginning of a lasting vacation memory.

Travelling With Your Luggage Safely

Posted: under Uncategorized.

Even if you do a lot of travelling for business or leisure it’s still very easy to make some of the same mistakes each time you go on a trip. When the worst happens to us then we can easily feel hurt and also stupid for not being cleverer about the situation. Some mistakes you may already be aware of and others might be completely new to you. If you want to travel safely with your luggage then it’s important that you know all the different pitfalls out there.

Some people have the natural gift of only taking the items they absolutely need, the result is that they only need one or maybe two bags. Most people however end up taking various items “just in case” they might need them. The result is that most people don’t even use half of the things they take away with them. Not only are you making life more difficult for yourself in terms of having to carry all these bags around with you, but you’re also putting yourself at risk for a variety of other reasons.

If you and your family are going on a trip, it’s a very good idea to divide the contents up between the different bags. All too often luggage can get lost and the result is that one member of the family ends up with no spare clothes. If the contents are divided up then it means that there will be something of use in every bag. Just as long as not all your luggage has vanished. Underwear is very important to people so having the ability to change into clean underwear even if your suitcase is lost is worthwhile. You might even put a few pairs into your hand luggage just to be on the safe side.

Unfortunately many items of luggage are lost everyday in airports. By simply having your name and destination clearly printed on a luggage tag you’ll have a much greater chance of being reunited with your belongings. Having this info inside your bag can also be a good idea just in case the tag is ripped off your suitcase. As soon as you discover that an item of luggage has gone missing, it’s important that you report it so that staff can have a look for it.

Having certain items easily available to you during a flight is something that a lot of people like which is why carry-on luggage is so popular. However it’s important to understand that there are often weight restrictions and these restrictions can vary from airline to airline. Every year there is problems with heavy luggage falling down and injuring people. Also because of terrorist fears, many items are no longer allowed onto flights. These items include shaving razors, scissors and knitting needles. So find out this info before you go.

Some people will even offer further advice but the above is a good place to start. Travelling can be a lot of fun but things can quickly turn sour if you haven’t prepared yourself properly. Another thing to remember is that you should never leave items of luggage lying around as airport staff might think that there is a bomb inside!

April Kerr owns travel accessories website Stylish Traveller which has details of where to buy Diane von Furstenberg luggage and Tumi luggage.

Speeding Skiers Face Jail Time

Posted: under Uncategorized.

Reckless skiing is a real problem in some areas. Those disobeying the speed limit signs in Utah may face jail time and fines.

The speed limit was put in place in certain areas where less experienced skiers are trying to learn the sport. Reckless behaviors of others have caused 10 percent of all collisions in Park City and Deer Valley. A report in the Salt Lake City Tribune states that reckless skiing is now considered a Class B Misdemeanor.

Ski patrollers will be monitoring the slopes in search of people disobeying the speed limits or skiing recklessly. The ski patroller can now call the police, and the offenders may find themselves in court. If a reckless skier is called to court, the patroller will be called in as a witness to the incident. If skiers are found guilty of reckless skiing, they will be fined 1,000 USD and face a six-month jail sentence.

Some ski resorts in Europe are also adopting the ski speed limit, including Switzerland’s Grindelwald and Verbier. Pierre-Yves Deleze with the Verbier Tourist Office said, ‘The idea is to allow beginners to learn without people skiing by them too fast and frightening them.’

The problem isn’t simply fast skiers. Other reckless behaviour also endangers other skiers on the slopes.

‘We did it because that’s what people wanted’, said Susanne Daxelhoffer at the Grindelwald area tourist office. ‘The project is based on complaints of people skiing too fast and therefore fulfills a need’, Daxelhoffer added.

Swiss ski resort Grindelwald was the first European resort to introduce a speed limit on one of its slopes. A growing number of high-speed collisions on crowded slopes helped fuel the decision to implement the 30kmph speed limit. France reported several deaths in the 2006-2007 ski season due to high-speed collisions.

Resort owners hope to combat deaths and injuries by decreasing speeds on crowded and beginner slopes.

Richard Slater, a British skier and father of three told reporters, ‘It’s particularly good if you have young children and want them to be able to ski without being hit by out of control skiers going too fast.’

According to BBC News, a study of 24 resorts reveals that all are keeping an eye on the experimental speed limit enforcements.

Speed limits for skiers and snowboarders might soon become commonplace on slopes around the world. The resorts of Park City and Deer Valley, both in Utah, are the first to implement a fine and jail time. Grindelwald and other European resorts that are adopting the ski speed limit do not plan to fine offenders. There they are simply warned to slow down.

When the proper amount of care and respect are given, skiing in general is a relatively safe sport. Some members of staff and skiers at the affected resorts are torn. They can see the importance of safer skiing, but some feel the punishment far exceeds the crime.

Some skiers see the new law as a way for authorities to control what they do in their leisure time. These skiers feel the law imposes unfair restrictions on a fast-paced, thrilling sport.

Skiers on the other side of the fence believe the law will stop some skiers from recklessly skiing and putting others in harm’s way. This law gives less experienced skiers hope that they can safely enjoy their time on the slopes.

A Swiss insurance group is installing timers on certain slopes. These timers allow people to see their speeds and should encourage them to ski within set limits. Ski resorts world-wide hope the implementation of timers and patrollers will help make the slopes safer for more inexperienced skiers.

Top Five Yacht Charter Holidays Destinations

Posted: under Uncategorized.

The summer months are not too far ahead, however, the weather is yet to catch up on that movement from blustering rainy winter into a warming relaxed spring. However long this takes, it still leaves many of us out of ideas on what to do for the summer holiday. You could take the ever-popular sun soaked beach holidays, or to try something new and active such as a yacht charter holiday. These days more people are becoming drawn to taking part in something interactive and fun.

Yacht charter holidays provide the best of both worlds, for people looking to relax and stay physically motivated. These are available bareboat or skippered depending on the level of experience people have with sailing holidays. Those who have had very little experience will find that sailing abroad will require plenty of knowledge and practise if you are intending on sailing on a bareboat yacht. Various courses are available for beginners to learn.

Beginners however, are restricted on where they can travel to on their own as years of experience and a recognised certificate in yacht chartering is needed to travel further into Asia and Australia. Yacht charter holidays do not however need experienced sailors as many are catered with experienced staff and substantial accommodation. Depending upon your budget you could enjoy a fully catered luxurious break whilst sailing to different coastal areas.

For those looking to go on a yacht charter holiday will most likely want to travel somewhere further than and warm. The most popular of all yacht charter holidays is Greece and Ionian islands. Here people are relaxed and free to sunbathe on the beach with fellow Ionian locals. Cyprus is possibly the Eastern most side of the Mediterranean, which is why it makes for a better yachting experience.

Ibiza has been tipped to be popular with yacht chartering amongst young people and families. As Ibiza is a club-happy island, with a side of impressive views and quiet serene areas for families to enjoy, this also makes for a good yachting holiday. Often these yachts can accommodate for party atmospheres and celebrations.

Canada is good for people looking to have yachting holiday that is relaxed and scenic. These come with Canadian motor yachts that are fully catered, but there are motor boats available for people who are looking to skip the boat themselves without any help. There are provisions made available for people who looking to learn some basic boating techniques.

Mexico is the next stop for yacht charter breaks. The Mexican yacht aims to entertain guests with exotic feast and musical fun, many of which are based on both the yacht and the beach. The beaches are kept sandy white and the sea turquoise blue, so there is more scope to enjoying the land when you fancy a quick dip and sunbathing time.

A Caribbean Yachting experience is above all the most pleasing and entertaining because of its rich vibrant and colourful culture with tasty and exotic cuisines. Furthermore, there is the abundant opportunity to enjoy a party on the beach with the relaxed and friendly locals.

The best experiences are ones that are experienced with someone, so if you are stuck for ideas this summer, there are plenty of opportunities to try your hand at yachting/sailing away.

Anna Stenning loves to go on yacht charter holidays, as this gives her the freedom to enjoy the seaview and stop off at a nearby beach for some time enjoying the sunshine.

Options For Accommodation In Granda

Posted: under Uncategorized.

As such, Granada is a popular holiday destination in Spain and it has a number of various accommodation options to house all the tourists that it sees annually.

You can sleep in the majestic hotel that can be found in the grounds of the Alhambra Palace itself. It has a stunning view of the Sierra Nevada peaks and offers all the amenities and conveniences that you could dream of. There is another architecturally pleasing and impressive hotel nearby, named the Alhambra Parador. It is housed in a part-palace, part-mosque that was built in the 1300s. It is an extremely popular holiday accommodation option and you will need to book a room months in advance if you want to stay there.

There are many three to four star hotels in the modern part of the city of Granada. You can also find a number of hostals and pensions which are cheaper options than the hotels. These themselves, vary greatly in price depending on how much you plan to spend. They also vary in quality and it is worth checking them out before you book or following a recommendation from some-one you trust. Some are clean, modern and comfortable, while others may be grimy and rather unpleasant.

There are a number of pensions in the old Arab-Jewish quarter of Albaicin. The 17th century Casa de Alijarife is one of the most charming of these and it is fast becoming a sought-out accommodation venue. It is a fully modernized building, but it features an old-style interior courtyard with a Moorish fountain. It also has gorgeous views of the Alhambra. It is worth booking well in advance if you’d like to stay here as it is very small, but popular.

If you are happy to share, you can choose to stay in a youth hostel. One of these is the Avenida Ramon y Cajal. It has 230 beds divided into two and three bed rooms. It is also an appropriate accommodation option for those in wheelchairs as it has a number of specially designated wheelchair accessible rooms.

You can also choose to stay in a holiday rental apartment. These are self catering and may be a good option for families or large groups who would like a bit more space, freedom and privacy.

You can stay in one of a number of gypsy cave houses that produced some of the most fantastic flamenco dancers that the world has seen. The gypsy cave houses in El Sacromonte have all been converted into modern accommodation options. The cave houses in the countryside have been converted into a form of self-catering apartments.

Traffic in Granada seems to change regularly and parking is difficult so try to choose an accommodation option near to the sites that you will want to visit during your stay in Granada. Otherwise, at least make sure to choose a hotel that has off-street parking facilities.
